Generate bulk discount codes

WOTIO generates unique discount codes in bulk — up to 100,000 at a time — using a template you set up in Shopify. First you build the template discount, then you point WOTIO at it and set your batch parameters.

Phase 1

Build the template discount in Shopify

Step 01

Open your discount admin

Head to the Discounts section of your Shopify admin.

Create a discount

Click Create Discount.

Choose “Discount Code”

Select the Discount Code option — not Automatic Discount.

Name the code template

Enter a name for the discount. It must include WOTIO somewhere in the name — that’s how the app finds it.

Set the discount parameters

Configure the discount exactly as you want it applied to every code WOTIO generates from this template — value, minimum requirements, usage limits, dates, and so on.

Save the template

Phase 2

Generate the codes in WOTIO

Select your template

Back in the WOTIO app, find the template name you created in Step 04 in the dropdown menu. If it isn’t listed, click the refresh link in Step 2 of the Bulk Discount Codes section.

Set the number of codes

Enter how many codes to generate — a minimum of 100 up to a maximum of 100,000.

Add a prefix

Optionally add a prefix to the front of each code — useful for tracking separate batches. Letters and numbers only.

Choose code length

Select the length of the random portion of your codes. For large batches, pick a higher character count to keep every code unique.

Add a suffix

Optionally add a suffix to the end of each code — also handy for batch tracking. Letters and numbers only.

Preview and create

Check the code preview to confirm everything looks right, then click Create Bulk Discount Codes Now.

Confirm you want to create the discount codes.

Watch the queue

Your codes go into a queue to be generated. Track their status in the history section in the right column — at the bottom of the page on mobile.

View your generated codes

Once generated, click the View Codes link beside the batch in the creation history. This takes you to your Shopify discounts admin, where you’ll see the codes WOTIO produced.

Open the full code list

Click the View all codes link to see the complete list.

Export for other platforms

To use your codes elsewhere — an email provider, for example — click the export link to download them from Shopify.
