Activate customer accounts after migrating to Shopify
Moving platforms is hard work — don’t let it stall at the finish line because customers never activate their accounts on your new store. WOTIO gives you a set of tools to close out a migration cleanly. This guide walks through the sequence we recommend.

Order matters
Every other invite method — automatic invites, the self-service site link, and Shopify Flow — must stay off until your bulk invites finish sending. Turning any of them on mid-send can cause your bulk invites to stop deploying early. Follow the steps in order and you’ll be fine.
Step 01 · In Shopify
Import your customers to Shopify
Using whatever import method you prefer, get all of your existing customers loaded into Shopify before you do anything else.
Step 02 · In WOTIO
Install the WOTIO app
Already installed?
No problem — you can still import customers afterward. Just make sure no Shopify Flow workflows are active before you import.
Step 03 · In Shopify
Customize your account invitation email
Make sure the email Shopify sends carries your branding and a clear call to action, so customers understand they need to activate their account. Find it in your Shopify admin under Settings > Notifications > Customer Account Invite in the Customer section — the WOTIO app also links to this email directly for convenience.
Step 04 · In WOTIO
Send bulk invites
The bulk invite tool is one click. Once you start it, the request enters our queue and begins deploying shortly. Depending on the size of your eligible list, sending can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days for larger stores.
Important
Do not enable Shopify Flow workflows at any point while bulk invites are deploying, or your bulk send may stop early.
Step 05 · In WOTIO
Install the self-service site link
The site link adds a small piece of code to your website that lets customers send themselves an invitation by entering their email into a form. It’s a popular feature that covers every place a customer might need a reminder to activate their new account.
Important
Do not install the site link until your bulk invites have finished sending.
Step 06 · In WOTIO
Set up Shopify Flow invites
Finally, set up our Shopify Flow automation so every new customer who arrives going forward gets invited automatically. The Shopify Flow setup guide walks through the full build.

Do not enable your Shopify Flow workflow until your bulk invites have finished sending.
Migration complete
Your existing customers are invited, self-service is live, and new customers are covered automatically. That’s a clean landing.
